Welcome to Qingqing Huang's Minerals and Metallurgical Processing Research Group at West Virginia University. Our group is devoted to the innovation and development in the general areas of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy. We focus on developing innovative and advanced technologies to process various minerals and extract valuable metals with minimal environmental impact and maximized economic benefits.

The research interest of the M&MP Research Group lies in the surface chemistry aspects pertinent to mineral processing, flotation, coal preparation, explosion mitigation, pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy for metal recovery from ores. We have built specific experiences in characterization and performance evaluation of mineral processing reagents (frother, collectors, depressants, etc.) and additional experiences with iron ore sintering/pelletization and economic evaluation of coal fines pelletization.

The M&MP Research Group looks forward to cooperating with research institutes and universities as well as industrial partners. Through these collaborative projects we hope to help advance the mineral processing discipline. Meanwhile, we wish to generate favorable environmental and economic benefits to society at large and produce young mining engineers who are thoroughly prepared to meet the operational and engineering challenges of the mining industry.
